With Microsoft’s New Commerce Experience having come into General Availability on the 10th January 2022, we have summarised what this means for you as an MSP and what you can do to prepare for future changes.
What is the New Commerce Experience (NCE)?
NCE introduces seat-based cloud offerings for Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, Windows 365 and Power Platform. During the introduction of the NCE, Microsoft has been working to streamline processes and make new offers available to partners and their customers.
What does the introduction of this mean?
Different pricing for products based upon the customers commitment level (monthly, annually or multiyear), with shorter commitment levels pushing premium pricing
Enforcement of cancellation rules around licenses and renewal dates and the requirement to pay until the end of the commitment period.
What else is changing?
Windows 365 will be available on a monthly commitment, whereas previously you could only purchase on an annual commitment
Ability to schedule changes to a subscription at the point of renewal in advance
Set a subscription to auto-renew or not
Add-ons can be purchased without the base product being available
What about Cascade?
The development team here at intY is working to bring you the ability to transact under NCE as quickly as we can.
Promotional offers available:
Microsoft are offering two timebound promotions that are intended to accelerate the adoption of NCE – one for annual and one for monthly subscriptions:
- Annual term promo gives a 5% discount off the CSP price list amount
- Monthly term promo applies the regular annual term price instead of the usual 20% higher price point
