Upgrading to Windows 11? Why an AI Device is the Smart Choice

Upgrading to Windows 11? Why an AI Device is the Smart Choice

April 2025

From October this year, Microsoft will no longer support Windows 10 and Windows 11 becomes the go-to operating system. It’s a great opportunity to introduce your customers to the benefits of upgrading to AI-powered laptops.

On 14 October 2025, Microsoft will withdraw support for Windows 10. At the same time, artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionising the market for computer hardware. Leading research company Gartner has forecast that worldwide shipments of AI PCs will account for 43% of all PCs in 2025.

These two facts create a not-to-be-missed opportunity to boost your hardware business by introducing your customers to the exciting new world of AI-powered IT. Many older devices will struggle to run Windows 11 effectively, or be unable to run it at all. It makes sense to pair the built-in AI capability of Windows 11 with a specially designed AI-powered laptop.

The risks of failing to upgrade are substantial. The Windows 11 end of support (EOS) means that Microsoft will no longer be providing feature updates, bug or security fixes, time zone updates or technical support. Computers running Windows 10 will still work, but will be more vulnerable to security risks and viruses. Upgrades or new applications won’t be designed for Windows 10 and this could result in operational inefficiencies and higher IT costs.

How AI has made laptops smarter

AI-powered PCs are built with advanced Neural Processing Units (NPUs), designed to handle AI workloads alongside traditional CPU and GPU tasks. That means faster data processing, advanced threat detection and a more personalised user experience.

With built-in AI-driven security, AI-powered laptops can identify and respond to online threats more quickly than traditional devices. Automated threat detection uses AI and machine learning to identify and respond to security issues in real time.

Accessed directly from the Windows taskbar, Copilot is a conversational chat interface that enables users to search for information, generate text such as emails and summaries, and create images based on text prompts. Copilot is embedded in popular Microsoft 365 apps, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams. It also seamlessly integrates with the clipboard and provides the ability to drag and drop images to provide rich interaction, empowering users to work faster and smarter.

Processing AI with an NPU is much more efficient than via a traditional CPU and GPU, which means less power being drawn by the laptop, and therefore longer battery life. Using smart algorithms, AI can also predict, improve and extend battery life.

Why it makes sense to choose AI-powered laptops

The withdrawal of support for Windows 10 will focus many business owners’ minds on the need to upgrade their hardware. With so many benefits of choosing an AI-powered device to run Windows 11, there’s a compelling sales proposition to help you win business:

  • Better performance. Studies of Windows 11 Pro on new devices show on average 42% faster completion of demanding workloads and 50% faster workflows (source: Microsoft).
  • Fewer IT issues and downtime. On average, users have reported an 80% reduction in helpdesk tickets (source: Microsoft).
  • Great for remote working. According to the Office for National Statistics, more than a quarter of working adults in Great Britain (28%) were hybrid working in the autumn of 2024. AI-optimised tools make remote working much easier and more productive.

Why investing now can save your customers time and money

Taking the opportunity to upgrade to AI-powered laptops ensures future proofing. Hybrid and remote working are facts of life in our super-connected world and AI is the powerhouse that will drive efficiency and productivity. Next generation AI applications will increasingly provide greater flexibility and improved collaboration in any location.

Investing in AI-powered laptops now will deliver long-term cost savings from automation and streamlined business processes. According to research by Forrester in 2022, businesses upgrading to Windows 11 Pro devices experienced a 250% return on investment (ROI) over three years.

Leading manufacturers offer a range of Windows 11-ready, AI-powered laptops. Options include the Dell XPS13, the HP EliteBook Ultra G1i and X G1i, the Lenovo Yoga 9i and the Samsung Galaxy Book4 and Book5 Series.

Encourage your customers to embrace the future

Businesses should view the Windows 10 EOS as an opportunity to embrace new AI technology and strengthen their IT infrastructure by upgrading to AI-powered laptops. By encouraging them to invest in the right hardware, you can help your customers move forward with confidence and stay one step ahead of the competition.
