‘Don’t wait’ – Andy Porter talks Microsoft’s CSP deadline
Our newly appointed Microsoft Technology Strategist, Andy Porter, is urging Cloud Solution Providers (CSPs) to act early ahead of Microsoft’s CSP programme changes.
Watch Andy’s interview with IT Channel Oxygen where he explains what the $1 million revenue threshold means for partners and why now is the time to prepare.
Microsoft announced in May that it will introduce a new $1 million annual revenue requirement for Direct CSPs as part of wider efforts to streamline its partner ecosystem. Microsoft’s CSP programme changes will affect many UK CSPs, who will now need to transition to an indirect provider.
Speaking in the interview, Andy Porter said partners shouldn’t view this shift as a setback.
“Don’t wait,” he said. “Be proactive, whether you’re impacted on 2 October, 1 January or next September. Talk to someone who understands both the commercial and technical implications of the Microsoft ecosystem as part of those changes and beyond.”
Porter described the transition as a strategic opportunity, not just a compliance requirement.
“In reality, a move to Indirect is probably more of a strategic upgrade than it’s ever been before,” he explained. “We’re already helping partners navigate these changes and identify the opportunities they create for long-term growth.”
As the UK’s largest Indirect CSP, Giacom remains closely aligned with Microsoft’s partner and product teams. Andy’s appointment reflects ongoing investment in helping partners simplify their transition, strengthen their Microsoft propositions, and unlock new growth opportunities.
He added, “My advice would be to reach out or drop me a message, and I’m happy to put that time in with partners, just to help guide them and clarify what their options are.”
