Microsoft Cloud Solution Partner Program – FAQs

Thanks for joining us on our recent ‘Introduction to MCPP’ webinar, we hope you found it useful. To make things simple for you, we’ve collated the questions asked on the call for you below. If you have any more questions don’t hesitate to get in touch.

If I renew onto legacy benefits, will I still receive incentives?

From 31st October 2023, the only way to be eligible for incentives will be through the Solution Area Designations. So, you would not receive them via legacy benefits. However, you would still have access to other great benefits such as Internal Use Rights and deployment support.

How do renewal dates work for MCPP?

Your renewal date for MCPP will be based on the date that you achieved and paid for your first solution area designation. Additional solution area designations will also have the same renewal date.

For example, if you achieve & pay for the Modern Work SPD on 1st August 2023 and achieve the Security SPD two months later, both would renew on 1st August 2024.

What if my score drops below 70 points on my renewal date?

As the scoring requirements are based on a moving target (trailing 12 months), your score may change regularly. So, if your score drops below 70 points on your renewal date, there is a 180 day window for flexibility. So, if you had hit 70+ points within that 180 day window, you will be able to renew your SPD.

How can I track my progress towards achieving a Solution Area Designation?

The Insights tile in your Partner Centre is a great way to track your progress. There are four sections that make up the Insight data; customer eligibility, skilling eligibility, qualification summary and score simulator. What counts as a new customer add?

A new customer add is required to have at least 11 seats on any of these workloads. Intune, Exchange, ProPlus, SharePoint, Teams, Teams Meetings, Teams Phone, Teams Phone calling, Teams Platform, Yammer. Whilst the customer does not need to be new to Microsoft, it does need to be new to you as a partner.

Can employees associate their certifications with multiple businesses?

No, certifications can only be associated with 1 business. It is possible to swap associations between businesses but, this requires a 30 day wait time. It is also only possible to swap 3 times a year.

Who should I contact if I need to discuss this in more detail?

We always recommend starting with your Giacom Account Manager for any additional queries. We do have a dedicated Modern Workplace team that your Account Manager can bring in for additional support
