Giacom Completes Peaks Trifecta Challenge for Samaritans
Our team has completed the Peaks Trifecta Challenge, a three-part endurance event held in the Peak District on 8 May, raising more than £15,000 so far for Samaritans, with donations still being accepted.
The challenge saw 50 Giacom colleagues take on a 2km canoeing stage, a 22km hike and a 100ft abseil in a single day. The event was sponsored by CityFibre, with members of the CityFibre team also joining our colleagues to complete the challenge.
Combining canoeing, hiking and abseiling, the challenge tested the team physically and mentally, with colleagues supporting one another as they completed each stage.
Samaritans was chosen by our team as part of the company’s annual charity selection process, which invites colleagues to vote for charities aligned to our ESG goals and 4Ps framework: People, Planet, Place and Partnerships.
Samaritans provides vital emotional support to people who are struggling to cope or at risk of suicide. Through its 24-hour listening service, awareness work and campaigning, the charity helps ensure people have somewhere to turn during some of the most difficult moments in their lives.
The Peaks Trifecta Challenge forms part of our wider ESG activity and ongoing commitment to supporting communities, charities and causes that matter to our people.
Hayley Duckmanton, Chief People Officer, said: “We’re incredibly proud of everyone who took part in the Peaks Trifecta Challenge. Completing all three stages was a real test, but the team showed fantastic determination, resilience and support for one another throughout.
“Samaritans does life-changing work, and it means a great deal to support a charity chosen by our own people. Thank you to everyone who donated, shared the campaign, sponsored the event or took part. Raising more than £15,000 so far is a fantastic achievement for an incredibly important cause.”
The challenge continues Giacom’s annual tradition of bringing colleagues and partners together through charitable activity, helping to raise money for good causes while strengthening teamwork across the business.
